Yangon, Burma is now called Rangoon, Myanmar because the military who govern the country are so anti-British they have removed as many reminders of the empire as possible, including changing the name of the country, the capital city and even the side of the road which they drive on.
Crossing the river to make off for an obscure
town. What an adventure that turned out to be!

Nobody spoke English
(of course), and the only hotel in town also operated as ... another kind
of business ...
and ran a karioke show under my room which continued until 4
in the morning. Tom Jones will never sound the same to me.
Literally
rubbing shoulders with the locals in a lorry.

This fellow is, of
course, on his way to a Tom Jones Karioke show. You should have heard him
sing "Delilah".
The little
kiddies just loved my Sony walkman - especially the slow-down/speed-up
knob!

One has his face painted to keep him cool and to terrify tourists like
me.
In the
roof top restaurant of my hotel shortly after a curried potato breakfast
(Yumm!!!)

Preparing a message on Psalm 23 for church on Sunday.
After a week in Burma I really began to blend in, so
don't be surprised if you find it difficult to find me in this shot!

The
church meets secretly because of the military dictatorship which opposes
them.
