Ironing
Extreme
Ironing is the latest adrenalin sport - combining
the thrills of outdoor
activity with the satisfaction of a well-pressed
shirt.
These shots
were taken on a recent ironing trip to Land's End in South West England, April
2004.
Warming up with a little skateboard action
before the really hard core ironing takes place.
Bursting with an explosive blend of fear,
determination and that sense of excitement that
comes over you just before
any household duty, we make the arduous trip to the top of the climbing
spot.
The expedition party, just prior to the iron.
Even from this distance, you can see how badly that shirt is creased.
Selecting the access point. Because of the
increased danger that ironing injects into
an already dangerous sport,
careful planning must preceed every step.
And we're up. Let me tell you, it's an amazing
feeling.
The 160 foot sheer drop makes every pass of the iron a terrifying
brush with death.
Hot in the action. Pressing out some seriously
extreme creases.
The unmistakable look of satisfaction that no
other sport can deliver.
Back in the van, the adrenalin and elation
still pumping through our veins.
It's all in a day's
ironing.
