Why are men so very blind?
I cannot understand,
except perhaps by subtle power,
of spirits wicked and,

by turning from the light of Christ;
forsaking His command,
darkness has become their home,
and blindness their demand.

What terrors shall await them there,
the day that they shall stand,
before God's holy, righteous throne,
to hear His reprimand.

O, why are men so very blind? I cannot understand.

Especially when their lives are full,
of sorrow and regret.
Their hearts are cold, their spirits racked
with guilt and fear and yet,

they cannot see that all their sin
incurs for them a debt,
which God has promised in His love
through Jesus to forget.
